SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
Penn State returns from the holiday break on a 5-10-3 overall record and will face Quinnipiac on Friday, one day before taking on the Tigers. The Nittany Lions have played three other ECAC squads: Clarkson, Union and St. Lawrence and is 1-5 against them. The squad's last win was a 3-2 game over Lindenwood on Nov. 11. THE PRINCETON/PENN STATE SERIES
Princeton owns a 5-1 lead in the all-time series with the relatively new Penn State hockey program. The Tigers swept the Nittany Lions during a two-game series at Hobey Baker Rink last year. The lone loss in the series was in the 2014 season opener, a one-goal game.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac is ranked eighth in the nation as they ended the first half of the season at 13-4-3 and on a eight-game unbeaten streak. The Bobcats average 2.75 goals per game and have the third-best scoring defense nationally at 1.35 gpg. The squad as the fourth-best power-play in the nation converting 15 of 76 (19.7%). THE PRINCETON/QUINNIPIAC SERIES
The Tigers look to snap a 14-game winless skid in the series with the Bobcats. Last year Quinnipiac won a 4-2 game in Princeton two days after a 1-1 tie in Hamden. Princeton's last win was a 3-0 shutout on Jan. 3, 2011.
