Tucker Scores 11 Seconds In but Clarkson Rebounds in 3-1 Game

Senior Cassidy Tucker scored 11 seconds into the game for No. 10 Princeton but No. 4 Clarkson rallied and took a 3-1 game on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Cheel Arena.
The loss drops the Tigers to sixth in the ECAC standings with 24 points, one point behind Quinnipiac which tied St. Lawrence 1-1. Colgate has taken over fourth place with 27 points, though they have a game in hand.
Though St. Lawrence won the opening draw, Julia Edgar clipped her man right in front of the Princeton bench and the puck came free for Kiersten Falck. She fed Morgan Sly at center ice before Sly found Tucker open on the left wing. She whipped a shot at a difficult angle over the blocker of Shea Tiley.
Genevieve Bannon set up the game-tying goal at 13:17 as she sent up Carly Mercer for a backdoor goal.
Though it was a scoreless second period, Princeton's power-play had its chances, but was 0 for 3. Overall the Tigers finished 0 for 5 on the power play, while Clarkson was 0 for 4.
Loren Gabel roofed a shot over Steph Neatby and didn't hit the brakes crashing into Neatby. The goal was reviewed but counted as it was in before the contact. Bannon and Mercer were credited with the assists at 11:44 of the third.
Princeton would have an even more difficult time getting the equalizer after drawing a penalty at 16:32. After killing off the interference call, the Tigers called a timeout and pulled Neatby for the extra skater. Clarkson won the ensuing draw deep in its defensive zone and Gabel put away the empty-net goal at 18:51.
Neatby finished the game with 22 saves, while Tiley stopped 27 shots as Princeton had a 28-25 edge in shots on goal.
Princeton faces No. 3 St. Lawrence tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m., at Appleton Arena.
