EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton opens the ECAC Hockey season hosting Yale and Brown this weekend at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers started the season now No. 1 ranked Wisconsin, falling 4-3 in Game 1 and 3-0 in Game 2. Junior Carly Bullock had a goal and an assist in the series and is the top returning scorer from last year after collecting 24 goals and eight assists. Behind her in scoring last year was Karlie Lund, who has 106 points in her career. She had the first goal of the season, making it 1-0 Princeton on Friday night. Freshman Sarah Fillier, a member of the 4 Nations Cup roster for Team Canada, has two assists. Sophomore Annie MacDonald's goal against the Badgers earned her the No. 2 ECAC Hockey Play of the Week. Sophomore Rachel McQuigge picked up an assist on Friday night and made 53 saves over the weekend at Wisconsin.
THE PRINCETON/YALE SERIES
Princeton is 62-15-3 in the all-time series with Yale, dating back to 1979. Last year the Tigers swept the Bulldogs with a 3-0 win at home and 4-1 win on the road.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
This will be the first game of the season for Yale, that finished last season 10-17-4 and eighth in the ECAC Hockey standings. The Bulldogs lost a good chunk of its offensive firepower, 38 percent, with the graduation of seven. Greta Skarzynski who led the team in scoring as a rookie if back after a 26-point campaign. Seniors Emma Vlasic and Julia Yetman each had 17-point seasons. The defense returns seven from a year ago - including Yetman. Yale split time between two goaltenders last year and both are back this season. Junior Tera Hofman had a .918 save percentage and a 2.78 GAA as a sophomore and sophomore Gianna Meloni owned a .924 save percentage and a 2.06 GAA as a freshman.
THE PRINCETON/BROWN SERIES
The Tigers own a 48-29-2 edge in the series with Cara Morey's alma mater. Princeton is riding a 16-game win streak in the series - in which it has outscored the Bears 65-12. Last year the Tigers took a 4-0 game at home and a 5-2 match on the road.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown open the season with a sweep of Holy Cross last week and continued the streak with a 5-3 win over UConn on Tuesday. Freshman Lizzy Gross leads the team with four goals and two assists, while junior Sena Hanson, sophomore Kaitijane Blumberg and freshman Shay Maloney have four points apiece. Junior Calla Isaac played in both Holy Cross games and allowed just one goal on 57 shots. Freshman Hayley Kliczko picked up her first win against the Huskies allowing three on 43.
