This is the only top 10 match-up in the nation this weekend - making this a must see game.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
After a three-week hiatus for exams Princeton returns to ECAC action and finds itself still maintaining first place status in the league with an unbeaten 11-0-3 mark. The lead has dwindled however, now that every team has played 14 games apiece. Princeton has 25 points, two ahead of Cornell and three ahead of Clarkson - making this weekend's game the most important to date for the Tigers this season.
Princeton is ranked No. 4 for the third consecutive week and after handing Penn State a 4-2 game on Tuesday night, continue to remain unbeaten in its last 19 games - the longest unbeaten streak in the nation.
Freshman Sarah Fillier has moved into the national lead in points per game with 35 points in 17 games, scoring 13 goals and 22 assists. Junior Carly Bullock has 31 points on 15 goals and 16 assists and freshman Maggie Connors isn't far behind with 26 points on 15 goals and 11 assists as both rank in the top 20 nationally. Junior Claire Thompson has 20 points from the blue line, the third most points in the nation for a defenseman. Sophomore Rachel McQuigge has not lost a game since Oct. 21 at No. 1 Wisconsin and has a .937 save percentage and a 1.63 goals against average - ranking her in the top 10 in the nation in both categories.
Princeton is fourth in the D1 in scoring offense (3.71 gpg), third in scoring defense (1.76 gpg) and has the best power play (27.9%).
THE PRINCETON/ST LAWRENCE SERIES
Princeton owns a 32-28-4 advantage in the all-time series with St. Lawrence. The Saints won an overtime game last year here t Hobey Baker Rink after a 4-4 draw in Canton in November. Princeton's last win in the series was a 4-2 decision on Feb. 12, 2017 in Canton. With six of the last nine games being decided by just one goal and four games reaching overtime.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
St. Lawrence is 12-11-3 on the season and hasn't lost in its last four games. With a 7-5-2 record in the ECAC, the Saints are in sixth place in the standings. Senior Justine Reyes leads the offense with 20 points on six goals and 14 assists. Junior Kalie Grant has 18 points while senior Rachael Smith has a team-best nine goals and 17 points total. Seniors Grace Harrison and Sonjia Shelly have split playing time in goal this season. Harrison has the better numbers with a .933 save percentage and a 1.89 GAA, while Shelly has a .910 save percentage and a 2.19 GAA. The Saints have one of the best penalty kill units in the nation at 90.6 percent - allowing just five power-play goals all season.
THE PRINCETON/CLARKSON SERIES
Clarkson has a two-game edge over Princeton in the all-time series 17-15-2. Last year the Tigers posted a 2-0 shutout over the then ranked No. 1 Golden Knights. It was Princeton's first win in the series since 2013, snapping a 10-game winless skid.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The defending national champions are ranked right behind Princeton in the national poll, in fifth place, and enter the weekend with a 20-5-1 overall record and on a six-game win streak. At 11-3 in the league, the Golden Knights are three points back from the Tigers in the standings. Clarkson has the second-best scoring offense in the nation and has three skaters with 40+ points this season. Senior Loren Gabel has 49 points on 25 goals and 24 assists. Sophomore Elizabeth Giguere has 48 points on 19 goals and 29 helpers and junior Michaela Pejzlova adds 42 points with 16 goals and 26 assists. Senior Kassidy Sauve has started in all but four games in goal and has a .930 save percentage and a 1.76 GAA.
