Princeton Splits Doubleheader at Georgetown

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Princeton Tigers finished with a doubleheader split vs. the Georgetown Hoyas at Shirley Povich Field on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1: Princeton 5, Georgetown 0
James Proctor struck out 10 hitters while Nadir Lewis set a program single-game record with five walks in a 5-0 victory in game one.
Proctor finished off the Hoyas in the final inning with two strikeouts to finish his career best. He scattered just three hits and walked three to earn the victory.
Jake Boone picked up his fourth multi-hit outing of the season. The sophomore has recorded a hit in every game except for one. Princeton had 14 free passes in the game. Lewis' five walks broke the single-game record that has been reached seven times last met by Adam Balkan in April of 2002.
Chris Davis knocked in the Tigers' first run on a fielders' choice before Max West came around to score on a wild pitch two batters later.
Georgetown looked to get on the board in the in the third inning with runners on second and third with one out, but Proctor got a strikeout and flyout to retire the threat. That was the last time the Hoyas had a player get to third base.
A bases loaded walk from Joseph Flynn in the fourth stanza gave the Tigers a 3-0 advantage. Single runs by the Tigers in sixth and seventh innings pushed their lead to five.
Georgetown couldn't put together a rally as the Tigers took game one of the doubleheader.
Georgetown 9, Princeton 6
The two teams exchanged scores in the first stanza as fielder's choice produced Princeton's tally while a fielding error provided Georgetown with a run.
The Hoyas put together a five-run frame on five hits to jump in front, 6-1, in the third inning. The breakthrough came on a two-run single from Tony Barreca.
Princeton closed the gap to three on a run-producing hit from Boone and RBI groundout from David Harding in the fifth. Georgetown kept its distance with sacrifice fly and RBI double in the sixth inning.
Eric Marasheski hit his first career home run with a blast to left center in the next half frame while Harding added another RBI a few hitters later. Barreca contributed a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the at-bat to set the score at 9-5. Harding's fourth RBI came in the Tigers' last stanza.
Harding and Marasheski each had two hits in the loss. Kyle Ruedisili led the Hoyas with three hits and was one of four players to score twice in the victory.
These two squads wrap up the series tomorrow (Mar. 17). First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
