Princeton returns 10 players who scored a goal in the 2019-20 season, led by 22-goal scorer junior Maggie Connors. In goal, senior Rachel McQuigge played a third of the team's minutes in that season on the way to a 1.51 GAA, and junior Cassie Reale played 180 minutes with a 1.00 GAA.
Princeton carries a six-game winning streak overall against the Bulldogs, with Yale's last win coming on Feb. 3, 2017 in Princeton. In New Haven, the Tigers have won three straight and are unbeaten in five straight, with Yale's last home win over Princeton coming on Feb. 21, 2015.
Saturday's game will bring Princeton coach Cara Morey back to her alma mater, and Melanie Ruzzi, a Princeton assistant coach during the Tigers' 2020 ECAC tournament title-winning season, has since taken over as the head coach at Brown.Â
Princeton has won 20 straight against the Bears, with Brown's last win over Princeton coming on Feb. 19, 2010 in Princeton. In Providence, Princeton has won 12 in a row and is unbeaten in 14 straight since the Bears' last home win over Princeton on Jan. 7, 2006.Â
While Princeton has yet to open its regular season, both Yale and Brown already have. Yale outscored Saint Anselm and Sacred Heart a combined 15-0 last weekend to get off to a 2-0 start, and Brown hosted Penn State for two, tying the Nittany Lions 2-2 before a 5-2 Penn State win in the series finale. The Bears will host Quinnipiac to start the weekend on Saturday.
Following the weekend, Princeton will have its home-opening weekend Nov. 5-6 against RPI and Union. Tickets are available here.
