No. 5 Colgate, Return to Cornell Ahead for No. 9 Princeton

A third straight game against a top-10 opponent in No. 5 Colgate on Friday and a return to the site of one of the great moments in program history on Saturday at Cornell are ahead this week for the ninth-ranked Princeton women's hockey team.

Against Colgate: Princeton has won the last two against the Raiders and is unbeaten in the last four in the series. Colgate's last win in the series came on Jan. 6, 2018 at Baker Rink, and Princeton is unbeaten in the last two at Colgate, with the Raiders' last home win over Princeton came on Nov. 3, 2017.Â
Against Cornell: The Big Red had won the three previous meetings heading into the 2020 ECAC Hockey tournament final, which Princeton won 3-2 on an overtime goal by Mariah Keopple. Cornell's last win over the Tigers was on Dec. 6, 2019 in Princeton, and the last Big Red win in Ithaca was on Nov. 2, 2019.Â
On offense: Princeton has outscored its opponents 15-8 over the first six games of the season with eight Tigers splitting the goals, including four who had their first goals as Tigers in freshmen Sarah Paul, Mia Coene, Dominique Cormier and Ellie Marcovsky.Â
On defense: Senior Rachel McQuigge has played five of the six games in goal, turning in two shutouts including last Saturday at Quinnipiac to help win MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week honors from ECAC Hockey. McQuigge has a 1.21 GAA entering the weekend.
Milestone chase: Junior Maggie Connors leads Princeton with six goals and is closing in on 100 career points, entering the weekend with 97. Connors co-leads the nation in goals per game at 1.00 alongside Wisconsin's Casey O'Brien.
On Colgate: The Raiders (13-3, 5-1 ECAC Hockey) swept RPI and Union last weekend to bounce back from a 4-0 loss to Yale the Saturday before. Dara Greig and Kalty Kaltounkova co-lead Colgate with 11 goals apiece as the Raiders have outscored opponents 82-32. Kayle Osborne has been Colgate's primary netminder, and the team has a GAA of 2.01.Â
On Cornell: The Big Red (3-4-1, 2-3-1 ECAC Hockey) are unbeaten in three straight after sweeping Union and RPI last weekend. Lily Delianedis leads Cornell with four goals and Lindsay Browning has been Cornell's primary netminder as the team has a 2.87 GAA.
Up next: Princeton will step away from ECAC Hockey play Thanksgiving weekend and will bring another top-10 opponent to Baker Rink, hosting current No. 4 Northeastern on Nov. 26 and 27.Â
