McQuigge Stops 47 as No. 9 Princeton Draws No. 5 Colgate
November 19, 2021 | Women's Ice Hockey
Maggie Connors' second-period goal tied it for the ninth-ranked Princeton women's hockey team on Friday at No. 5 Colgate, and that's where it stayed as the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Hamilton, N.Y.
Connors' goal lifted her career point total to 98 as she closes in on the century mark.
Connors tied it with less than four minutes to play in the middle frame, and less than six minutes after Colgate's Katelyn O'Donohoe gave the Raiders the lead.
The O'Donohoe goal was the only one of the 48 shots on goal that got by senior Rachel McQuigge, as her 47 saves surpassed her previous high by 11, from a 36-save double-overtime game against Quinnipiac that advanced Princeton to the 2020 ECAC Hockey tournament semifinals. The 47 saves were the most in a game for a Tiger goalie since Stephanie Neatby '20 had a program-record 60 in a triple-OT loss to Quinnipiac that opened the 2017 ECAC Hockey tournament quarterfinal series. McQuigge's save total was the highest for Princeton in a non-playoff game since Kim Newell '16 had 48 against Clarkson on Nov. 21, 2015.
Princeton will wrap up the weekend when it heads to Cornell for a 3 p.m. start on Saturday in what will be the Tigers' first visit to Lynah Rink since winning the 2020 ECAC tournament title over the Big Red on March 8, 2020.
