The only negative part of Princeton's road trip to Connecticut this past weekend was the fact that the line at the Dairy Barn in Storrs was too long for the bus to stop and let everyone get ice cream on the ride back.
Â
Other than that, it was smooth sailing for the Tigers, who swept Yale and UConn by a combined 10-3. With that momentum, even without the ice cream, Princeton gets back on the bus this afternoon for a much shorter trip, this time to the Jersey Shore, where an opponent who helped derail the team's NCAA tournament hopes a year ago awaits.

Princeton vs. Monmouth
Five Storylines
Â
The series
Princeton leads the all-time series against Monmouth 4-1, including a 2018 win in which current Tigers Ali McCarthy and Hannah Davey both had goals. This year's game will be the second one between the teams in West Long Branch.
Â
The lone Monmouth win came last year on Bedford Field, where the Hawks won 3-2 in overtime after Princeton had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 (with goals from McCarthy and Sammy Popper). That loss helped keep Princeton from an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament a year ago.
Â
We're No. 8
Princeton is ranked No. 8 in this week's NFHCA poll. The Tigers have wins over No. 2 Maryland, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 12 UConn and No. 23 Rutgers, with one-goal losses to No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Northwestern and No. 7 Louisville.
Â
I'm honored
Princeton's Grace Schulze came into the weekend road trip with two assists in the first nine games of the season. She then had two goals and three assists in the wins over Yale and UConn.
Â
Her big performance earned her the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week award, making her the second Princeton player in a row to win the honor, after Beth Yeager did a week earlier. Goalie Robyn Thompson won Ivy Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the year.
Â
Monmouth's Annik Van Lange was named the CAA Player of the Week for the second time this year after a five-goal, one-assist weekend in a win over Sacred Heart and a loss to No. 19 William & Mary.
Â
Scoring offense
Princeton has the No. 1 scoring offense in the Ivy League and No. 11 scoring offense in Division I at 2.99 goals per game.
Â
Princeton has had 13 different players score at least one goal this season. During the weekend trip to Yale and UConn, Princeton had 11 different players with at least one goal or one assist.
Â
The Ivy League
The game at Monmouth is Princeton's last non-league game of the regular season. After this, the Tigers will play one league game per weekend for the next five weekends, beginning this Saturday at home against Dartmouth.
Â
Princeton is currently one of three unbeaten Ivy teams at 2-0, along with Harvard and Cornell. Brown and Yale are both 1-1, followed by Dartmouth, Columbia and Penn at 0-2 each.
Â
Princeton has won 26 Ivy League championships. No other team has won more than eight.
