
Men's Basketball Tops Drexel 83-63 For Sixth-Straight Win

PHILADELPHIA – Behind a game-high 19 points from junior Matt Allocco, the Princeton University men's basketball team won its sixth-straight game with an 83-63 victory over Drexel Saturday afternoon inside the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Allocco's 19 points tied his career-high, and came on 9-for-12 shooting from the field. He also tied the game-high in assists with four, and pulled down four rebounds. Senior Tosan Evbuomwan finished with a double-double of 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting and a career and game-high 13 rebounds, while senior Ryan Langborg added 11 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Freshmen duo Deven Austin and Xaivian Lee both added 10 points, with each shooting 4-for-6. Ausin's total was also a career-high.
As a team, the Tigers shot 35-for-65 (53.8%), and dominated the rebounding battle, 39-23.
Ignited by a Langborg three-pointer with 18:56 on the clock, Princeton opened the game on a 9-0 run. The Tigers would soon after extend their lead to double-digits, after a pull-up jumper from Allocco gave the Tigers a 14-4 advantage with 11:14 left in the half.
The Dragons would narrow the deficit to three after a 7-0 run, and made it a 21-18 contest with 6:48 on the clock. A three-pointer by Austin at 6:13 led off an 8-0 run, that Princeton take a 29-18 lead with 4:30 on the clock after a two-handed dunk by Lee. The Tigers went up 12, 36-24, after a three-point play by Evbuomwan at 1:56, and took a 36-27 advantage into halftime.
Senior Keeshawn Kellman opened the second half with a two-handed slam with 18:54 on the clock, putting the Tigers ahead 38-30. The Dragons battled back and reduced the deficit to 46-40 at 14:43, but a pull-up three-pointer from the top of the circle by sophomore Blake Peters followed by an Allocco layup gave the Tigers a 57-47 advantage with 11:32 remaining.
Evbuomwan sank a pair of free throws with 8:39 remaining, putting Princeton up 66-55. The Tigers continued to extend their lead, with three Peters free throws and an Austin layup giving the Tigers an 80-63 advantage with 1:21 left to play. From there, Lee drilled a three from the right with 0:05 on the clock and Princeton held on for its sixth-straight win with a final score of 83-63.
