Men's Basketball Completes Weekend Sweep With 88-66 Victory Over Columbia

PRINCETON, N.J. – Rebounding dominance and five double-digit scorers powered the Princeton University men's basketball team to an 88-66 victory over Columbia, Saturday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium as the Tigers completed the weekend sweep.
Five finished in double digits for the second consecutive game, and the Tigers out-rebounded the Lions 48-34. The victory moved the Tigers to a conference-best 7-2 in Ivy League play.
Senior Tosan Evbuomwan led the game with 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting, and also handed out a game-high four assists while pulling down four rebounds. Senior Keeshawn Kellman added 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the free throw line, while also blocking a game and career-high four shots and grabbing five rebounds. Junior Matt Allocco was perfect from the field, going 5-for-5 and scoring 12 points while also recording four rebounds, and freshman Deven Austin scored in double digits for the second game in a row, finishing with 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting. Rounding out the Tigers' double digit scorers was senior Ryan Langborg, who had 10 points and four rebounds. Freshman Caden Pierce led the team in rebounding, with eight.
Langborg drilled a three-pointer for the first basket of the contest with 19:39 on the clock, and the Tigers held a 6-5 advantage at the first media timeout with 15:35 left to play.
A powerful put-back dunk by Kellman put the Tigers up, 10-5, at 14:25, and the Tigers would continue to build their lead; a layup Austin gave Princeton a 19-10 advantage with 9:48 remaining in the half.
With 8:30 remaining in the half, a three-pointer by Austin ignited a 12-0 run that put Princeton ahead, 34-13, following a pair of free throws by Langborg with 6:20 on the clock. The Tigers remained in control for the remainder of the half, and took a 47-25 lead into halftime.
Austin drove baseline and elevated for a two-handed dunk with 17:10 remaining and ignited an 8-0 run, that gave the Tigers a 57-31 lead with 16:00 on the clock after a three-pointer by Allocco. Allocco stayed hot, and produced a pair of three-point plays that helped Princeton go up, 64-37, at 13:34.
A three-pointer by Pierce at 11:42 sparked a 7-0 run, giving a 71-43 advantage after a pair of free throws by Kellman with 9:56 left to play. Senior Jacob O'Connell would complete a three-point play and give the Tigers a 78-50 lead with 5:06 remaining, and the Tigers would hold on for the 88-66 triumph.
