Three Goals And An Olnowich Shutout Lead Princeton Past Yale
January 25, 2025 | Women's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J.- The No. 13 women's hockey team hosted the Yale Bulldogs for an ECAC showdown. The Tigers were ready to get their revenge for a recent overtime loss to the Bulldogs at Ingalls Rink and came out firing.
Angelina DiGirolamo scored the first goal of the afternoon as the final minute of play ticked off the clock in the first period. Mia Coene recorded the helper for her third of the season.
Princeton would not be satisfied with just one goal. Coene tallied her second assist of the night on the pass to Sarah Paul to make it a 2-0 game. The score marks Paul's third goal to cap off a strong weekend performance.
Mackenzie Alexander and Issy Wunder each returned to the points column on the third goal of the contest. Wunder made the pass past Yale's Pia Dukaric to Alexander for the tip-in to give Princeton a three goal advantage.
Yale had pushed its offensive pressure up and attacked Jennifer Olnowich but to no avail. The Princeton keeper made 21 stops throughout the first two periods.
The Bulldogs worked to chip away at the Tigers' lead but the deficit was too much. Yale fired off 13 shots, all stopped by Olnowich.
The three goals and Olnowich's first shutout of the season led the way for Princeton as the team returned to its winning ways in an important conference game.
The Tigers will be back at Baker Rink next weekend when they host Dartmouth and Harvard from Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
