A – About The Game
Princeton will enter the game knowing whether or not it can get a share of the Ivy League championship. Should Yale defeat Harvard Friday evening, then Princeton would tie the Crimson with a win over Columbia. Should Harvard defeat Yale, then the Crimson would be the outright champion.
B – B1G
Princeton went 4-0 against the Big Ten during this regular season, with wins over Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern and Penn State.
C – Caponiti
Olivia Caponiti ranks second in the Ivy League in goals-against average (0.94). The last Princeton starting goalie to have a GAA below 1.0 for a full season was Jennifer King in 2008 (0.8).
D – Dimes
Pru Lindsey and Anna Faulstich each had three assists in the win over Penn State. It marked the third time in program history that Princeton has had multiple players with at least three assists in the same game, along with Katie Reinprecht and Julia Reinprecht against Duke in 2012 and Julianna Tornetta and Clara Roth against Albany in 2019.
E – Eight Straight
Princeton has won eight straight games after a 4-2 start. The last time Princeton won eight straight was in 2022; the last time Princeton had a longer streak was in 2019, when Princeton won 13 straight to reach the NCAA championship game.
F – Future
The Ivy League tournament will be held Friday-Sunday of next weekend at Harvard. Regardless of the outcome of this weekend’s games, Harvard will be the No. 1 seed and host and Princeton will be the No. 2 seed. Yale, Brown and Cornell are locked in a very tight race for the other two spots, with an almost endless number of scenarios to be played out. Cornell will host Penn Saturday, while Brown will be at Dartmouth Saturday as well.
G – Goals
Princeton scored six goals against Penn State, with six different players with one each: Beth Yeager, Ottilie Sykes, Clem Houlden, Caitlin Thompson, Tabby Vaughan and Izzy Morgan.
H – History
Princeton leads the all-time series with Columbia 27-1, including 15-0 in Princeton. The teams met twice last year, with a 1-0 Princeton win in the regular season in New York City and then a 4-0 Princeton win in the Ivy League tournament semifinals in Princeton.
I – Ivy League
The Ivy League has five teams ranked in the top 14 of the current RPI: No. 3 Princeton and No. 2 Harvard, No. 10 Yale, No. 13 Penn and No. 14 Brown. Despite its RPI, Penn has no mathematical chance to reach the Ivy League tournament.
J – Just The Facts
Beth Yeager leads the Ivy League in points this season with 28 (10G, 8A). She is also one of two Princeton field hockey players ever with at least 54 career goals and 33 career assists (Kirsty Hale is the other). Yeager ranks fifth in career goals at Princeton (54, six behind Amy MacFarlane for fourth) and sixth at Princeton in career assists (33, two behind Kathleen Kelly and Julia Reinprecht for fourth). Yeager and Ryleigh Heck of UNC are the only two active players in Division I with at least 54 goals and 33 assists.
K – Korners
Princeton scored four of its six goals against Penn State on penalty corners.

L – Leaders
Princeton is led by three captains for the 2025 season: seniors Ella Hampson and Beth Yeager and junior Ella Cashman. Yeager is now the 18th player in program history to be a two-time captain.
M – Molly, Pru, Caitlin
Molly Nye had one career goal in her first 28 career games. She now has a goal in five of the last seven games. Pru Lindsey did not have a point in the first eight games of the year. She has three goals and eight assists in the last seven games. Caitlin Thompson had no goals in the first nine games and now has six in the last six; she leads all Ivy League freshmen in goals and is ninth among Division I freshman in goals.
N – NFHCA Poll
Princeton is ranked a season-best fifth for the second straight week in the NFHCA coaches’ poll.
O – Offense
Princeton has averaged 3.5 goals per game in its last eight games after averaging 1.7 goals per game for the first seven. Princeton scored 12 goals in its first seven games and has 28 in the last eight.
P – Player Of The Week
Princeton has had six different players earn at least one Ivy League Player of the Week honor this season: Olivia Caponiti, Ella Cashman, Pru Lindsey, Izzy Morgan Ottilie Sykes and Beth Yeager.
Q – Quarter
Princeton scored four goals in the third quarter against Penn State this past Sunday. The last time Princeton scored at least four goals in a quarter was in a Sept. 19, 2021, game against Boston University, when Princeton scored five first quarter goals.
R – RPI
Princeton has an RPI of No. 3 heading into this weekend, with eight wins over Top 20 teams (No. 4 Northwestern, No. 10 Yale, No. 12 UConn, No. 13 Penn, No. 14 Brown, No. 17 Monmouth, No. 18 Rutgers, No. 19 Maryland) and its three losses to teams in the top nine (No. 1 UNC, No. 2 Harvard, No. 9 Syracuse).
S – Shots
Princeton outshot its two opponents last weekend (Brown, Penn State) by a combined 49-10. Princeton has averaged outshooting its opponents by a combined 16.3-7.9; the last time Princeton held its opponents below eight shots per game for a full season was 2018 (6.0).
T – Tigers
Princeton has seven players who have started every game of their career: Ella Cashman, Anna Faulstich, Clem Houlden, Saylor Milone, Ottilie Sykes, Caitlin Thompson, Beth Yeager.
U – USA
Princeton was well-represented with USA Field Hockey this past summer. Beth Yeager, a 2024 Olympian, won a silver medal at the Pan Am Cup in Uruguay, scoring four goals in the tournament. Talia Schenck also won silver and also scored four goals, at the Junior Pan Am Games in Paraguay. Assistant coach Pat Harris was a silver medalist with the USA men’s team at the Pan Am Cup.
V – Vietnam
Princeton’s Clem Houlden and Molly Nye spent the summer in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam as part of the Coach For College program. Houlden taught biology and coached volleyball to middle schoolers, while Nye taught English and coached volleyball at a different middle school.
W – Winning
Princeton’s Ivy League championship a year ago was the 28th in program history, which is tied with Harvard women’s squash for the most by any Ivy women’s team in any sport in league history.
X – X-Factor
Princeton had six players on the NFHCA preseason Watchlist: Ella Cashman, Anna Faulstich, Clem Houlden, Talia Schenck, Ottilie Sykes, Beth Yeager.
Y – Yeager
Beth Yeager is a three-time first-team All-American selection; no Ivy League player has ever been a four-time first-team All-American. She’s also a three-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.
Z – Zinger
Princeton has not failed to reach the NCAA tournament in consecutive years since 1992-93. That streak will continue through this year, as the Tigers reached the NCAA quarterfinals a year ago.
