No. 5 Princeton Races Past Columbia In Regular Season Finale
November 01, 2025 | Field Hockey
The long list of Ivy League field hockey tournament scenarios that was sent out late Friday night had two certainties on it. Harvard would be the No. 1 seed and host, and Princeton would be the No. 2 seed.
Still, the Tigers' regular season finale against Columbia Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale was hardly meaningless — especially with hopes of again playing on that same Bedford Field come NCAA tournament time.
No. 5 Princeton got goals from Caitlin Thompson, Pru Lindsey and Lilly Wojcik — the first of her career — en route to a 3-0 win over Columbia, ending the regular season at 13-3 overall, 6-1 in the Ivy League and on a nine-game winning streak.
Princeton will play its Ivy League tournament semifinal game Friday in Cambridge against Yale at 2:30 p.m. following the opening semifinal between No. 1 seed Harvard and No. 4 seed Brown at 11:30 a.m.. In addition, Princeton's top three RPI puts the team in position for a possible host role in the NCAA tournament in two weeks.
Princeton had seven first quarter shots without a goal before Thompson tipped in her seventh of the season off a flick from Beth Yeager on a penalty corner. Thompson leads Ivy League freshman in goals and came into the weekend ninth among Division I freshmen.
Lindsey then doubled the lead on a gorgeous reverse after dribbling into the circle. Wojcik's goal came off a rebound after a save on a shot from Ella Hampson.

The Tigers scored more goals than it allowed shots, as Princeton's edge was 20-2 there. No Lion shot found its way on goal. Here is Lilly's first career goal, started with a great play by Anna Faulstich. pic.twitter.com/9DMMO9qmNS
