Men's Basketball Downs Bucknell in Home Opener

PRINCETON, N.J. – Led by a game-high 25 points from junior Dalen Davis, the Princeton University men's basketball team took down Bucknell Tuesday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium in the Tigers' home opener, 73-63.
Davis, whose 25 points also tied his career-high, went 8-for-16 from the field, 2-for-4 from three and 7-for-8 from the free throw line, with his seven made free throws a career-best. He also added three assists, three rebounds and one steal. Junior Jackson Hicke recorded 12 points, and five rebounds while junior Jacob Huggins finished with 11 points, four rebounds and a team and career-high four assists in addition to making his first career three-pointer. Sophomore Jack Stanton compiled eight points and a career and team-high seven rebounds, and sophomore CJ Happy scored eight points, grabbed three rebounds and tallied a game and career-high two blocks.
While it was Bucknell who scored the first two baskets of the game, a dunk by Happy ignited a 10- run that swung the momentum the Tigers' way, putting Princeton ahead 10-4 with 16:55 on the clock. With 8:49 left in the half, a Happy three-pointer extended the Tigers' advantage to double figures at 29-19, then Huggins' first career three-pointer, that came at 6:12, gave Princeton a 36-24 lead. The Bison were able narrow the deficit back to five by halftime, as Princeton led 41-36.
Bucknell were able to tie it at 43-34 with 15:39 remaining, but a Hicke jumper followed by a Stanton three-pointer put the Tigers back up five, 48-43, with 14:45 on the clock. While the Bison made it a one-point game at 12:04, 48-47, a Davis jumper along with three-pointers by Stanton and Landon Clark extended Princeton's advantage back out to seven, 56-49, with 10:29 remaining. Davis took over down the stretch, scoring 10 points inside the final 5:36 to power the Tigers to the 73-63 triumph.
