In the rankings: Princeton stands No. 9 in both the latest USCHO and the latest USA Hockey/The Rink Live national rankings. ECAC Hockey has six teams ranked in at least one of the two 15-team polls, in No. 6/6 Quinnipiac, No. 9/9 Princeton, No. 10/10 Cornell, No. 11/12 Clarkson, No. 12/14 Colgate, and No. 13/11 Yale.
Princeton in the polls: The No. 9 ranking, which the team has held since Dec. 8-9, is Princeton's highest since Oct. 17-18, 2022, when it was also No. 9 in both polls. It's the latest in the season Princeton has been as high as No. 9 in the polls since ending the 2019-20 season at No. 6 (Mar. 9-10, 2020).
ECAC Standings: With 28 standings points, Princeton (12 games played) holds a four-point lead over second-place Yale (24, 14 games) with Quinnipiac (23.5, 12 gms), Colgate (22.5, 12 gms) and Cornell (22.5, 12 gms) in the top five spots. The top four teams will get a bye to the quarterfinals and host that round.
Against Harvard and Dartmouth: This will be the teams' first meeting of the season. The return visit in New England is on the first weekend of February. Princeton is unbeaten in seven straight against Harvard, since a Feb. 2022 road loss, and has won three straight, since a Nov. 2023 home tie. Another non-loss would tie Princeton's longest unbeaten streak in series history against the Crimson, which included the series' first eight games, from 1980-84. Against Dartmouth, Princeton has won three straight, since a Jan. 2024 road tie, and is unbeaten in 16 straight, since a Nov. 2016 road loss, the Tigers' longest unbeaten streak in series history.
Win streak: Princeton's 11-game winning streak is its longest since a program-record 12-game run from Nov. 27, 2015-Jan. 29, 2016. A sweep this week would reset the program record.
Stat Rankings: Entering the week, Princeton ranked fifth in the nation in scoring defense (1.53 goals allowed/game), fifth in scoring margin (+2.05 goals/game), fifth in scoring offense (3.58 goals/game), fifth in team GAA (1.516), and sixth on the PK, turning power-plays aside 87 percent of the time. Individually, Issy Wunder was third in the nation with five game-winning goals, fourth in goals per game (0.95), and ninth in points per game (1.58). Mackenzie Alexander was fourth with five power-play goals, fifth in goals per game (0.89), and eighth in points per game (1.68).
Between the pipes: Entering the week, Uma Corniea ranked ninth in the nation in winning percentage (.667), 10th in save percentage (.937) and 11th in GAA (1.842). Corniea has played 717 of the team's 1,148 minutes, with Taylor Hyland playing 302 and Lia Nevo 120.
Milestone ahead: Senior Emerson O'Leary enters the weekend sitting on 97 career points. With three more, she'll join classmate Issy Wunder as the only active Tigers with 100 (Wunder enters the weekend at 133). The next-closest Tiger is Mackenzie Alexander, who's got 78 career points and is only in her sophomore season. Over the past decade, just five Tigers have reached 100 points, including Sarah Fillier '24 (194), Carly Bullock '20 (159), Maggie Connors '23 (145), Wunder, and Karlie Lund '19 (131).
What's next: Princeton will continue the homestand next weekend, facing Cornell and Colgate.
