PRINCETON - The Princeton heavyweight crew entered Saturday as the No. 1 team in the country, but it was Harvard that entered as the two-time national champion. The Crimson showed championship resolve by topping Princeton in the race for the Compton Cup.
Harvard finished the first varsity race in 5:48.2, topping Princeton on its home course by more than six seconds. The Crimson used a strong burst in the second half of the race to open a comfortable lead. Harvard also won the third varsity race and the top novice race, although Princeton claimed victory in the second varsity race by nearly four full seconds.
Princeton will welcome Yale and Cornell to Lake Carnegie next weekend.
