PRINCETON - The No. 4 Princeton heavyweight crew ended the 2005 regular season in style Saturday by claiming the Content Cup against Brown. The Tigers, who also raced for the last time this season on Lake Carnegie, topped Brown by nearly nine seconds in the first varsity race.
The first varsity boat, which has not been ranked lower than fourth throughout the regular season, finished the race in 5:41.2, while Brown came in at 5:50.0. The Tigers also got a win in the second varsity race, while Brown took the third varsity race and the top novice eight, which had the closest finish of the day, .5 of a second.
Both teams will now turn their attention to May 15 and Eastern Sprints, where the Ivy League champion will be crowned. Princeton will come in as one of the favorites, along with defending champion and current No. 1 team Harvard. The Crimson is the only team to defeat Princeton this season.
