Kauppila Runs Nation Leading Time in the 1,000

BOSTON, Mass. (2/11/17) - Junior Noah Kauppila stunned at Boston University's Valentine Invitational running the fastest time in the 1,000 in the nation this season. He finished just behind Olympian Andrew Wheating 2:21.52 t0 2:20.72. Kauppila's time is the sixth fastest in the Ivy League history, just behind Princeton's Peter Callahan '13 who hit 2:20.78 at The Armory in 2012.

Junior Zach Albright continued his hot streak in the mile and ran a PR of 4:05.91. He has improved on his time in the mile in each of the last three meets, coming down from his 4:12.28 to start the season.
The lightning continued in the 200 as junior Carrington Akosa clocked the second-fastest time in school history with a personal best of 21.39. He beat out 87 other sprinters for the victory in the event. Shafiq Kashmiri '09 holds the school record at 21.20. Akosa has outrun his PR three times this season, improving upon his 21.54 at the start of the season. He now ranks 79th in the event nationally.
Joining Akosa in the 200 for the first time this season was sophomore Charlie Volker. Volker posted 21.84 to finish 11th overall. In the 60, an event he holds the program record in, he placed fifth tonight with a 6.95.
Princeton had three Tigers run under 1:05 in the 500. Sophomore Cole Bransford was fourth overall, but the second collegiate in the event with his fastest time of the season at 1:04.34. Freshman Gab Montefalcone time was seventh with a PR of 1:04.72 and junior Spencer Long placed 11th with his best time of 1:04.93.

Senior William Paulson was fourth out of 88 runners in the 3,000. He rounded the ovals in 8:07.58 shaving 15 seconds off his PR. His time is the 77th best in the nation this season.

The distance corps wasn't done yet as senior William Bertrand and junior Rob Stone went 4-7 in the 5,000. Betrand ran the fastest time for a collegiate in the race at 14:10.68 – crushing his PR of 15:02.75 with the 50th fastest time in the nation. Stone was the third fastest collegiate with a PR of 14:27.96, shaving 13 seconds off his previous best.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (2/11/17) - Princeton sent a small contingent to the prestigious Millrose Games at The Armory this afternoon.
Freshman Conor Lundy was eighth in the men's invitational mile with a time of 4:15.83 with splits of 29.90, 29.88, 31.10, 32.12, 33.31, 33.83 and 34.07.
The Tigers put out their first distance medley relay of the season and finished in fourth place at 10:08.51. Princeton won the DMR at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, bringing the program its second national title in the relays.
