Five Tigers Score as Women's Hockey Team Shuts Out Union

Princeton outshot Union 43-18 on goal and 74-34 overall, including a 14-2 edge in shots on goal in the opening period. Though Union kept Princeton off the board in that first frame, that changed less than five minutes into the second period when Kate Monihan had a blast in the slot to get the Tigers on the board.

Mia Coene doubled the lead less than five minutes later when Mia Coene put in a rebound.

With a little more than seven minutes to go in the second period, Shannon Griffin jumped on a loose puck at close range to give Princeton a 3-0 lead.

Annie Kuehl had the final goal of the day with less than five minutes to go in the game, taking a Grace Kuipers pass from behind the net and sending it in.

Ten Tigers finished with points on the day, and Tiger rookies set some career bests. Kuipers assisted on four of the goals to surpass her previous best of two points, set on Dec. 10 at Syracuse, Coene's goal and assist giving her her first two-point game, and Emma Dornseif had an assist on Princeton's third goal for her first career point.
Princeton will play its rescheduled game against St. Lawrence on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Baker Rink.
