
Women’s Ice Hockey Back Home To Face Quinnipiac,LIU

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Tigers are set to return home to Baker Rink for a Saturday afternoon game against the No. 7/9 Quinnipiac Bobcats after a three-game road swing. They will then take on the LIU Sharks on Tuesday night for the final game of the semester.

Last Time Out: Princeton earned a dominant 8-1 win over No. 13 Boston University for the team's second ranked win of the season. They carried this momentum into the two-game series against the Stonehill Skyhawks where the Tigers recorded their first shutout of the year in a 5-0 Friday night win. Saturday was a goal scoring frenzy as Princeton came out on top 12-1 with six different goal scorers.
Wunder-ful Issy: Issy Wunder has been a consistent force for the Tigers. The junior leads the team in goals with 15, has a +20 rating and is second on the team in points with 28. Wunder picked up both her first Bluebird Hotels ECAC Forward of the Week and Forward of the Month honors. She was also named the UCA Player of the Month.
Mac Attack: Mackenzie Alexander owns the team high in points with 29 and assists with 21. Alexander was named the ECAC Rookie of the Month in as many months and earned her third Rookie of the Week honors. She is tied for third on the team in +/- with a +15 rating, good for UCA Rookie of the Month.
Points For Princeton
Mackenzie Alexander has made her presence known across the collegiate hockey landscape. The freshman leads the country in points per game with 2.23. She leads all freshmen with 29 points. Issy Wunder is not far behind her and sits at third with 2.15 points per game.
The Tigers Man Advantage
The Tigers are currently at the top of the NCAA on the power play. The team owns a 40.9 success rate on the man advantage and has already scored 18 power play goals compared to 24 total in the 2023-24 season.
Power Play Paul: Sarah Paul scored her first career hat trick on opening night against Robert Morris, all coming on the power play. The junior forward has 14 total goals on the season with seven coming on the offensive advantage.
Princeton In the PWHL: Sarah Fillier '24 was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft by the New York Sirens. She notched 30 goals and 13 assists in her senior season with Princeton. Claire Thompson '20 was selected third overall by PWHL Minnesota and earned second-team All-Ivy and third-team All-ECAC honors in her final year with the Tigers in 2020.
Canada Connection: Mackenzie Alexander and Sarah Paul teamed up on the ice together this summer as part of the Canadian Development Team. The pair faced off against the U.S. in the Development Series. Paul will play with the Development team for the Six Nations Tournament in Tampere Finland from Dec. 11-15.
Double Trouble: Twin sisters Angelina and Lucia DiGirolamo join Princeton from the Bishop Kearney Selects where they were four-time New York state champions.
A Fresh Look: Princeton brings in six new Tigers as part of the class of 2028- Brooklyn Nimegeers, Hannah Fetterolf, Rosie Klein, Mackenzie Alexander, and the DiGirolamo sisters.
The Staff: Head coach Cara Morey returns for her eighth season leading the program. Morey owns a 102-70-22 record entering the 2024-25 season and won her 100th game on Jan. 13, 2024 against Harvard. Taylor Wenczkowski joins Daniel Gould and Jamie Lundmark on the Princeton coaching staff. Wenczkowski spent the 2023-24 season playing for PWHL Boston in the league's inaugural season. Prior to the PWHL, she played three years in the Premier Hockey Federation for the Boston Pride, winning back-to-back Isobel Cups as the league champion in 2021 and 2022.
Series History: In the two meetings in the 2023-24 season, the Bobcats picked up both wins. Princeton and Quinnipiac battled it out at Baker Rink where the visitor earned a 6-5 overtime victory. The Tigers fell 3-1 on the road to the then-ranked No. 9 Bobcats.
Princeton and LIU have met twice with the Tigers picking up both wins, most recently a 6-3 road victory in the 2023-24 season.
