No. 12/13 Women’s Hockey Home For Final Regular Season Series, Senior Day

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Tigers are at Baker for the final regular season weekend of the 2024-25 season. The No. 12/13 squad has already clinched home ice for its opening round of the ECAC playoffs as Princeton currently sits at seventh in the current standings with matchups against Union and RPI on the weekend schedule.

Last Time Out: Sarah Paul had another strong weekend with three points coming on two goals and an assist. The Tigers worked a tie against No. 10 Clarkson in comeback fashion thanks to Hannah Fetterolf and Paul's game tying power play score. Princeton fell to No. 7 St. Lawrence 3-2 as Paul and Mackenzie Alexander scored in the contest.
Spectacular Seniors: Princeton will honor its six member senior class after its game versus RPI on Saturday. The group includes captain Mia Coene, Emma Dornseif, Grace Kuipers, Ellie Marcovsky, Dominique Cormier and Jennifer Olnowich.
Wunder Woman: Issy Wunder is just three points shy of 100 in her career with the Tigers. The junior is second on the team in goals with 22, leads in points with 44 and has a +28 rating. Wunder picked up both her first Bluebird Hotels ECAC Forward of the Week and Forward of the Month honors and was also named the UCA Player of the Month in November.
Mac Attack: Mackenzie Alexander is one of two players on the Princeton roster with over 40 points and leads the team in assists with 27. Alexander was named the ECAC Rookie of the Month for the third straight month in December and has added a conference leading four Rookie of the Week honors. To top it off, Alexander was honored as the back-to-back UCA Rookie of the Month in November and December. She leads all freshmen in points, assists and points per game.
Tigers In Top 10: Princeton is listed in the top 10 in the NCAA in several statistical categories: team goals (7th with 105), power-play percentage (5th at 28%), power play goals (t-7th with 23), assists (7th with 169), scoring margin (7th at 1.48), short handed goals (t-9th with three) and points (7th with 274). The Tigers also have several individuals in the top ten in a variety of categories: Sarah Paul leads the nation in goals per game with a 1.00 average with Issy Wunder close behind in fourth with a 0.81 average. Mackenzie Alexander and Emerson O'Leary are fourth and sixth in assists. Wunder and Alexander are fifth and seventh in points per game. Paul is the leader in power play goals with 10.
The Tigers Man Advantage: The Tigers are currently fifth in the NCAA on the power play. The team owns a 28% success rate on the man advantage and has scored 23 power play goals.
Power Play Paul: Sarah Paul scored her first career hat trick on opening night against Robert Morris, all coming on the power play. The junior forward has 26 total goals on the season with a nation leading 10 coming on the offensive advantage. Her three goals across the Brown and Yale home contests earned Paul her first career Bluebird Hotels ECAC Forward of the Week honors.
Rooks On A Roll: Every first-year player on the Princeton roster has recorded at least one goal and multiple points this season. The six member class has racked up 87 combined points, good for over 31% of the team's total.
Princeton In the PWHL: Sarah Fillier '24 was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft by the New York Sirens. She notched 30 goals and 13 assists in her senior season with Princeton. Claire Thompson '20 was selected third overall by PWHL Minnesota and earned second-team All-Ivy and third-team All-ECAC honors in her final year with the Tigers in 2020.
Canada Connection: Mackenzie Alexander and Sarah Paul teamed up on the ice together this summer as part of the Canadian Development Team. The pair faced off against the U.S. in the Development Series. Paul competed with the Development team for the Six Nations Tournament in Tampere, Finland from Dec. 11-15.
Double Trouble: Twin sisters Angelina and Lucia DiGirolamo join Princeton from the Bishop Kearney Selects where they were four-time New York state champions.
A Fresh Look: Princeton brings in six new Tigers as part of the class of 2028- Brooklyn Nimegeers, Hannah Fetterolf, Rosie Klein, Mackenzie Alexander, and the DiGirolamo sisters.
The Staff: Head coach Cara Morey returns for her eighth season leading the program. Morey owns a 102-70-22 record entering the 2024-25 season and won her 100th game on Jan. 13, 2024 against Harvard. Taylor Wenczkowski joins Daniel Gould and Jamie Lundmark on the Princeton coaching staff. Wenczkowski spent the 2023-24 season playing for PWHL Boston in the league's inaugural season. Prior to the PWHL, she played three years in the Premier Hockey Federation for the Boston Pride, winning back-to-back Isobel Cups as the league champion in 2021 and 2022.
