No. 12/13 Women’s Hockey Drops Contest To No. 7 St. Lawrence
February 08, 2025 | Women's Ice Hockey
CANTON, N.Y.- The Princeton women's hockey team made the trip to Canton to take on the No. 7 St. Lawrence Saints in the team's final regular season road game. Two goals in the first would not be enough as the Tigers fell to the Saints 3-2.
Tori Verbeek scored in the first period with Aly McLeod and Kiley Mastel recording the assists to make it a 1-0 game in favor of the Saints.
Sarah Paul and Mackenzie Alexander continued to be forces to be reckoned with on the Princeton offense. Paul ripped a long shot right under the leg of the St. Lawrence keeper, Kassidy Lawrence, to tie up the game. The score marks her fourth consecutive game with a goal.
Less than two minutes later, Emerson O'Leary won the faceoff in the offensive zone and got the puck to Issy Wunder. Alexander then received the pass and pushed it into the back of the net to give the Tigers the lead.
The power play would go on to be the difference maker as Abby Hustler launched a slapshot past Jennifer Olnowich in the second period to even the score. Hustler went on to tally her second power play goal and eventual game winner in the third.
With the conclusion of the Saturday slate of games, Princeton officially clinched home ice in the opening round.
Princeton will return home for the final weekend series of the regular season. The Tigers will play Union on Friday at 6:00 PM before taking on RPI on Saturday at 3:00 PM when Princeton will celebrate its senior class.
