What's Going On
- On Friday, behind two goals from MaryKate Neff, the Tigers dropped Columbia, 3-0, at Bedford Field. Princeton had a 19-4 shot advantage and 9-3 lead in penalty corners.
- Emma Street also tallied her first career goal in the game.
- Two days later, No. 1 UConn defeated Princeton, 5-3, in a game that featured a combined five second-half goals. Ryan McCarthy recorded two tallies in the contest. The Tigers' three goals were the most that UConn have given since Oct. 30, 2016. Princeton finished the game with a lead in shots (16-8) and corners (7-3).
- Following its 1-1 weekend, Princeton remained at No. 14 in the Penn Montco/NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll. The Tigers are also No. 11 in the Division I RPI rankings.
- The Tigers have won the last 17 matchups vs. the Bears.
- Brown's last victory in the series was during the 1999 season, ending Princeton's five-game winning streak.
- The last time that the Bears won consecutive games against the Tigers was a two-game stretch during the 1989 season.
- Princeton has won eight straight in Providence, R.I., against Brown.
- Behind Cat Caro's '16 first career hat trick, No. 11 Princeton dropped Brown, 5-1, at Bedford Field.
- The Tigers outshot the Bears, 27-2, and held a 9-0 advantage in penalty corners.
- The Bears are 1-10 on the season with their only victory against Siena on Sept. 15.
- Brown has been outscored in its last two games, 14-1, losing at Harvard and American last weekend.
- Anagha Nayak leads the team with five goals this year.
- Princeton and Northeastern have each won two meetings against each other.
- The two have not faced off since 2005.
- The Tigers lost in their only matchup vs. Northeastern on the road.
- Northeastern's Ashley Webber scored two goals as the Huskies edged Princeton, 3-1.
- Princeton goalkeeper Allison Nemeth made eight saves in defeat, while Northeastern's Colleen Duffy stopped seven shots, including several crucial saves on Princeton penalty corners late in the second half.
- Each team fired 14 shots in the game, but Princeton held a 7-2 edge in penalty corners.
- The Huskies are 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the CAA.
- Northeastern is 1-1 against Ivy foes, losing to No. 17 Harvard, but defeating Brown.
- Jamie Bartucca is the team-leader in points (32) and goals (13).
- June Curry-Lindahl has a team-best seven assists and has 23 points this season.
- The Tigers battle nine 2016 NCAA Tournament teams along with the other three squads from the Final Four on its 2017 schedule.
- The Tigers have 10 nationally ranked teams on their schedule.
- Seven of the team's first eight games come against ranked opponents. The first weekend for Princeton without a top-25 opponent comes Oct. 14-15 when it travels to Brown and Northeastern.
- The Tigers went 12-8 in 2016 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season, receiving the program's first at-large bid to the tournament.
- One of the greatest moments in program history, Sophia Tornetta laced a laced a shot into the back of the cage as time expired to send the Tigers to the Final Four for the first time since 2012 with a 3-2 victory over No. 7 Virginia.
- No. 8 Delaware ended Princeton's season in the national semifinals as Esmee Peet scored the game-winner with 1:30 remaining, giving the Blue Hens a 3-2 decision. Delaware would go on to win the national championship.
- The Tigers had five players selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams. Caro and Ryan McCarthy were picked for the all-region first team while Maddie Bacskai, Tornetta and Elise Wong were honored with second team accolades.
- Caro topped off her fabulous senior season with a Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Division I All-America First Team accolade. She had a personal-high 18 goals and 47 points. She registered a point in 15 of the team's 19 games and finished the season eighth in the country in goals (.95) and 13th in points per game (2.26).
- In January, Katie '13 and Julia '14 Reinprecht retired from the United States National Field Hockey team.
- The two sisters retire as two-time Olympians, helping the U.S. to fifth place in the 2016 Rio Olympics. It was the team's highest finish since the 1996 summer games in Atlanta. They also won two gold medals at the Pan American Games (2011, 2015). Wrapping up their careers, Katie finished with 166 caps while Julia had 154 caps.
- Kathleen Sharkey '13 helped the national squad to a bronze medal in the Pan American Cup in mid-August. She scored five times, leading the tournament in scoring.
- Princeton continues to be well-represented with USA Field Hockey as four Tigers were named to the U.S. U-21 National Team and two more to the National Development Squad.
- Maddie Bacskai, Julianna Tornetta, Sophia Tornetta and Elise Wong were picked to the U-21 squad while Cat Caro '17 and Ryan McCarthy were selected to the development team. Princeton's four representatives on the U-21 team are the most in the country.
