No. 5 Princeton Travels To Yale, Takes on No. 24 BU at Bedford

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 5 Princeton Tigers continue Ivy action with a trip to Yale on Friday before No. 24 Boston University comes to Bedford on Sunday.

Preparing for the NCAA Tournament:
- Princeton had nine of the top 25 teams in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Preseason Coaches' Poll on its schedule.
- Head coach Carla Tagliente's squad opened the season with five straight nationally ranked foes, going 3-2.
- Princeton will also take on No. 2 UConn on Oct. 7 and No. 12 Harvard on Oct. 20.
- The Tigers have two alums on the United States national team in Cat Caro '17 and Kathleen Sharkey '13.
- Sharkey has 141 caps for the national squad, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She also helped the national squad to a bronze medal in the Pan American Cup last summer, leading the tournament in scoring with five goals.
- Caro has made 11 appearances for the national team, recording her first cap in January and her first international goal in April.
- Maddie Bacskai, MaryKate Neff and Elise Wong were named to the U.S. U-21 team in July while Sophia Tornetta was picked for the developmental squad.
- Princeton leads the all-time series, 42-2-3.
- The Tigers have won 33 straight games against Yale and has never lost to the Bulldogs on the road. Princeton's last loss to Yale was in 1985.
- Senior captain Ryan McCarthy played hero with two goals in the final 2:56 as No. 16 Princeton rallied for a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Yale at Bedford Field.
- McCarthy completed the contest with 13 shots while Princeton held a 26-4 advantage in that category. The Tigers also had 10 more penalty corners, holding Yale to just one. Nine different players took a shot in the game for the Tigers.
- The Bulldogs are 4-3 on the season, having lost three of their last four contests. Yale has defeated Michigan St., Hofstra, Drexel and Sacred Heart.
- Yale is 0-1 in the Ivy League, having lost to Harvard, 6-0.
- Imogen Davies leads the unit with four goals and nine points.
- Princeton leads BU, 10-3. Prior to last year, the two teams had not met since 2005.
- The Tigers have never lost at home (4-0) against the Terriers.
- Maddie Bacskai's goal in the 49th minute gave No. 17 Princeton a 1-0 victory over No. 24 Boston University at New Balance Field.
- Princeton held the home squad without a shot for the final 21 minutes. The Tigers outshot the Terriers, 13-4, and did not give up a penalty corner.
- The Terriers are 6-3 in 2018 with victories over Northeastern, New Hampshire, Miami of Ohio, American, No. 9 Northwestern and Colgate.
- BU has lost to No. 25 Maine, No. 24 Ohio State and No. 6 Penn State.
- Ailsa Connolly has a team-high 12 points, adding five goals and two assists.
- Petra Hall has four goals and two assists for 10 points on the season. Ally Hammel's five assists leads the squad.
- Rebecca Janes was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday for scoring her first collegiate goal vs. Colgate.
