No. 5 Princeton Opens Ivy Play vs. Dartmouth Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 5 Princeton Tigers begin Ivy League play as the Dartmouth Big Green come to Bedford Field on Saturday (12 p.m.).

What's Going On:
- No. 3 Maryland rallied to take down No. 5 Princeton, 5-4, in double overtime at Bedford Field on Tuesday evening.
- Clara Roth recorded her fifth career multi-goal game, finishing with five points. Julianna Tornetta and Jane Donio-Enscoe also scored in the contest while Princeton posted three defensive saves in the loss.
- Princeton had nine of the top 25 teams in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Preseason Coaches' Poll on its schedule.
- Head coach Carla Tagliente's squad opened the season with five straight nationally ranked foes, going 3-2.
- Princeton will also take on No. 21 Boston University on Sept. 30, No. 1 UConn on Oct. 7 and No. 18 Harvard on Oct. 20.
- The Tigers have two alums on the United States national team in Cat Caro '17 and Kathleen Sharkey '13.
- Sharkey has 145 caps for the national squad, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She also helped the national squad to a bronze medal in the Pan American Cup last summer, leading the tournament in scoring with five goals.
- Caro has made 15 appearances for the national team, recording her first cap in January and her first international goal in April.
- Maddie Bacskai, MaryKate Neff and Elise Wong were named to the U.S. U-21 team in July while Sophia Tornetta was picked for the developmental squad.
- The Tigers are 29-8-2 all-time vs. Dartmouth including a 15-3-1 mark at home.
- Princeton has lost just twice to Dartmouth since 1988. It has currently on six straight against Dartmouth.
- The Tigers have won the last six home meetings against the Big Green.
- Behind an impressive five-point outing from senior captain Ryan McCarthy, No. 17 Princeton ran by the Dartmouth, 5-0, at Chase AstroTurf Field.
- The Tornetta sisters combined for 11 shots in the game and three assists. Julianna Tornetta was second on the squad with seven shots, adding two helpers. Four different players scored for Princeton.
- The Big Green are 3-3 on the season, earning victories over Ball State, UMass and Holy Cross. Dartmouth fell in its only matchup vs. a ranked foe, 6-0, to No. 20 Iowa.
- Katie Spanos leads the squad with four goals and nine points. Five different players have scored at least two goals for Dartmouth this season.
